Beowulf by Gareth Hinds

Images used by permission of Gareth Hinds

I encourage you to find a copy of the recent graphic novel Beowulf by Gareth Hinds. The style reminds me of Albrecht Durer meets Frank Miller. Even those familiar with the story will find it hard to put down because of Gareth's ability to pace the story and imagery with a unique ability.
If this is your first introduction to the story of Beowulf, then hopefully you will be motivated to read a traditional translation. Recommended by Randall is the fairly recent Beowulf translated by Seamus Heaney, which has a great book cover.
Read Gareth's graphic novel and check out his website in which he details other projects including King Lear.
