Ron and Val Lindahn
The artists' workshop at the Illustrators of the Future contest was run by two great science fiction and fantasy artists, Ron and Val Lindahn. Val's work I remember from my teen years reading science fiction and fantasy as she produced some very memorable illustrations for Analog during the '70's.
Val has been a Hugo Award nominee for best professional artist, has won the prestigious Gaughan Award and has quite a vivid imagination. There is just not enough I can say about how great Ron and Val treated all of the illustrators at the workshop. We learned a lot about art and the creative process during the week and Ron and Val were great facilitators (and were sure to introduce us to luminaries such as Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and a host of other legends in the field of Science Fiction.)
Thanks to both of them for everything.
